There are many reasons to choose timber frame homes over other methods of construction, not only because they are beautiful, but also because they are energy efficient and built to last. A timber frame or post and beam home is
as unique as the people who inhabit it, whether you choose to build a new home, vacation home or a barn.
Timber frame homes feature exposed natural timbers and traditional wooden joinery and impart an unparalleled sense of warmth, comfort and security to indoor spaces. By combining the proven strength of this ancient craft with modern technologies, Davis Frame can provide you with one of the most energy efficient and high performing homes possible today.
Our Signature Look
Whether you are choosing to build a timber frame for aesthetics, durability or energy efficiency, our timber frames offer simple and elegant solutions to many of the challenges faced today in home building. Our main goal is to provide you with a home that is beautiful and high performing. Our timber frames also offer design flexibility and are known for their open concept layouts. We will work with you to create the timber frame home you want. It is our goal to work with you on a design that meets your wants and needs.
Our timber frame system uses traditional mortise and tenon joinery and oak pegs to hold the timbers in place. We leave the timber frame exposed on the inside of the structure which defines the space and lends a unique and beautiful aesthetic to the home. The curved braces, chamfered edges, and clear tung oil finish have become the signature features of a Davis Timber Frame Home.
We use computer-controlled, automated CNC machinery to cut the majority of our timbers. Our 3D-CADWORK design software creates the programming for our CNC machine and each timber will be cut to exacting tolerances, resulting in a precise cut and a tight fit.
During the hand finishing process we chisel, wax, plane, sand, chamfer and apply a tung oil finish to all the timbers. Our team includes experienced timber framers who can cut complex joinery with hand tools, scribe fit timbers into logs, hand hew the timbers with an adze, or cut complex curves into timber mantles to give your home that custom home appeal.
